2009 will mark the 1000th
anniversary of Lithuania being mentioned in the chronicles.
This was reason to make the city of Vilnius (together with
Linz in Austria) the European Cultural Capital.
More than 100 cultural-, art- and architectural projects will
be realized. With a face-lift for the city, a re-erected palace
and a varied cultural programme the Lithuanian capital will
show that she has arrived in EU-Europe.
