Chronik - Perestroika Tours

1989

First contacts with the Soviet Union are tied. A declaration of intention with the potential partners in Moscow and Minsk signed.



1990

A joint venture company “Perestroika” is established in Belarus. This company has the task to promote camping tourism of western tourists into the Soviet Union.


1991

The first tours to Belarus take place in a bi-weekly rhythm.


1992

Belarusian Week on the campsite Schinderhannes: around fifty Belarusians bring their culture and cuisine to the Hunsrück.


1992

Belarus is getting too small. The first camping tourists travel to Lithuania and to Kaliningrad, which was the former East Prussia.

 

1993

The Perestroika-Clients reach Moscow and St. Petersburg.

 

1994-97
The tours go further and further: to the Ural mountains, Lake Baikal, to Sibiria and Mongolia.
1995

The first Christmas-Get-Together takes place: since then our regular Information and participants meetings attract more and more people to the Hunsrück.

 

1998

Die first of many China trips calls for adventure – 28000 km within 140 days to Beijing and back. Since then more than 200 participants have experienced the tour.

 

2000
Eine neue Marathon-Tour wird ins Leben gerufen: Nordafrika - Ägypten - Naher Osten. Die Reise fand bisher 13 Mal statt, sogar 2003 im Jahr des Irak-Krieges


2000

Perestroika Tours changes into a private limited company. Also the Mir-Club is initiated.

 

2001

New territory is accessed with the India-Nepal tour.

 

2003
Die Reise der Superlative (und manche sagen, die beste Perestroika Tour) Südostasien-Singapur auf dem Landweg hin und zurück. Als erste Reisemobiltouristen durchfahren wir Vietnam und Birma


2003

The journey of superlatives (some say it’s the best Perestroika Tour) to South-East-Asia – Singapore – all overland and back. As the first motorhome group we enter Vietnam and Myanmar.

 

2005

Leave the winter for the warm: a group is spending Christmas in Jordan and the first months of the year on the Arabian Peninsula.

 

2005

During a three-month-stay in Islamabad a regular motor caravan is turned into a very special one: completely color-painted with pictures from the history of Pakistan, animals and Perestroika tour destinations.


2006

South America is visited for the first time.

 

2007
The generation of founders retires; the company is now led by Sabine Machado-Rettau


2007

The “One week in …”-series of tours offers more opportunities for employed persons and those seeking more individuality.

 

2008
Trotz aller Widrigkeiten (Unruhen in Tibet, Fackellauf und Olympiade) reist die Perestroika Gruppe nach Peking und zurück.


2008

During the first “Long Week” there is a small celebration for the 10 year of Marco Polo besides the Mir-Club Meeting and the Workshops.



2008

In the autumn the first workshop-week is taking place on the Schinderhannes campsite. The tour-guides and the Perestroika-Staff get you going in regards to GPS navigation, image-editing, computers and languages.



2009
Zurück zu den Ursprüngen: Erste Reisen für Individualisten werden wieder durchgeführt.


2009

Back to the roots: tours for the individuals are carried out again.



2010

Besides the anniversaries of the company and the Mir Club the 10 year anniversary of the North-Africa-tour was celebrated in another long week.
